The official opening of the CBOA pontoon will take place tomorrow, Saturday 17th September at 12pm, all are welcome!
​
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone would like to help out with refreshments by supplying some sandwiches, cakes, or buns. Tea and coffee will kindly be supplied by Coffee House Lane.
​
The Cheekpoint and Faithlegg Development Group will have some tables available from 11.30 onwards.

"Cheekpoint Boat Owners Association are delighted to announce the completion of works to install a Community Pontoon at Cheekpoint, Co. Waterford.
The 63M X 3M pontoon ensures safe access for local Watercraft users to the Waterford Estuary."

August 22nd 2022
Over the course of four days, LCF Marine worked tirelessly installing the pontoon and gangway.
​
With the hive of activity, many locals came out to observe the guys working on the installation.
​
The day after the installation was complete, members of CBOA began the long awaited move of their boats to allocated berths on the new pontoon.
June 21st 2022
On the morning of the longest day of the year, LCF Marine arrived to install the gangway platform support pile, adjacent to the pontoon entrance.
The professionalism displayed by LCF Marine in this installation is evident in the video attached.

This pile installation will now enable ICMS to manufacture the gangway support platform, which will be fitted to the top of this pile.
June 16th 2022
The work on the pontoon entrance is now complete!
​
The gate and frame will now be constructed by ICMS. This gateway will provide safe and secure access to the pontoon, whilst also helping to ensure all boats and equipment are protected.

With the recent delivery of piles for the pontoon and all necessary approvals in place, the pontoon installation date is rapidly approaching.
​
A recent visit to Inland And Coastal Marina Systems (ICMS), our pontoon manufacturer and installer, we received a fantastic factory tour where we got a preview of our pontoon in production.

The Cheekpoint Boat Owners Association have now registered with CleanCoasts.org
​
We as a committee encourage all of our members to be mindful of our marine environment at all times.

Great News! On the 2nd of February, we finally received the long awaited Foreshore Lease Approval from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
​
This final step allows us to progress to the next stage, the installation of the pontoon!
​

On July 21st, CBOA received the much-awaited good news that An Bord Pleanála has approved our planning application.
​
Full planning permission was granted in January this year but due to appeals, a delay of six months ensued.
​
Thankfully we are now back on track and are just awaiting Foreshore approval before pontoon installations can begin!

CBOA members and the 31st Waterford Scout Group participated in a clean-up of Cheekpoint's shore and harbour.
Items such as car tires, traffic cones, plastic fishing gear, and a fridge! were removed.
CBOA encourages all boat users to be mindful of the fantastic amenity on our doorstep and to take all necessary measures to help protect our marine environment.
